Blog 01/2022: Korpiklaani + CROWDFUNDING (?)

Olli Vänskä, Sami Perttula and Jonne Järvelä, Korpiklaani 2022

Hey all, back after a couple of months. Time flies, doesn’t it?

I guess it’s a combination of this corona bullshit, isolation, lack of gigs, some changes in my personal life (not all that bad) and even growing older. Once upon a time I used to be able to fit so much stuff in one year! It’s not so bad nowadays either, but it’s…. different.

Did I sound depressed? No need to worry!

I actually just returned from Switzerland a couple of days ago, we did another show with Korpiklaani there. Awesome times. We had another one cancelled just last Friday, hopefully these will be re-scheduled at some point in time.

I update some gig stuff on my Instagram, feel free to check it out.

All in all I’ve been super grateful for the chance to do live shows again, even more so during these challenging corona years. We have more gigs lined up and agreed upon, so if all goes as planned, you can catch me onstage with Klaani in the near-ish future as well. Nothing new to announce band-wise at this point. Playing is fun.

Crowdfunding + new music?

Yes? No?

This is something I’ve been thinking about for some weeks now. There’s new music planned and I’ve been playing around with some themes. I want to get it done – not necessarily a full-length album – and the smartest thing might be to run a crowdfunding campaign with a moderate goal in order to finance it.

My question to you: would you be OK chipping in a little bit of money €£$ for new music?

I’m offering:

  • an EP-length release (2022/2023?)
  • awesome music (pretty sure)
  • cool perks (hopefully)
  • my gratitude (of course)

Note: this is not an official crowdfunding announcement, nothing is live yet. I simply want to hear what you are thinking about it.

I’m not planning crazy multi-year projects with stupid goals. I just hope you liked the Deadline single and are interested in hearing what else I have in my back pocket. There are TONS of ideas from the past years and putting a few more tracks together in nearby future seems like a viable idea.

I don’t make music in order to be rich, I just want to cover the costs and pay my co-conspirators a fair deal. Maybe a new violin would be nice every now and then 😀

Let me know your thoughts here on the blog / Facebook / Instagram/ mail / etc.

P.S. If you for some reason want to finance my music hustles right now directly, you can do it eg. via https://paypal.me/ovanska or https://ovanska.bandcamp.com/

  1. Definitely would support. The huge hit bands have taken from this virus is heartbreaking. Listening to music has kept me going during the lockdowns we’ve had to which I’m eternally grateful.
